Guernsey Champions Visitor Excellence with New Ambassador Training Initiative

Guernsey Champions Visitor Excellence with New Ambassador Training Initiative

The Tourism Management Board (“TMB”) is encouraging the sector to all fly the flag for Guernsey and become Ambassadors for the Island.

Working together with VisitGuernsey, the TMB has launched the Ambassador Training Scheme, which has been developed to enhance the overall visitor experience.

The training scheme is designed to be rolled out to all those working in visitor-facing roles across the tourism sector to deliver an exceptional level of customer service and Island knowledge, encouraging a consistent, quality approach.

The programme is designed to be a module delivered as part of businesses ongoing training and can be adapted to suit that sector. The TMB is also encouraging industry groups to deliver sessions to allow independent traders can take part. VisitGuernsey will also offer the opportunity to join an online or in-person training session, which are designed to be interactive, to stimulate discussion and make meaningful industry connections.

Once complete, there is a short survey to fill in. Ambassador badges can then be collected from the Visitor Information Centre. Alternatively, you can display a digital version of the badge within your business communication, on request.

Charlie Walker, co-chair of the Tourism Management Board, said:

‘We want visitors to have the best experience possible, from the moment they arrive. Our aim is to improve skills and Island knowledge across the sector and promote an excellent visitor journey. Every touch point should be a positive one, encouraging return trips and recommending the Islands to friends and family. Training new Guernsey Ambassadors should benefit our whole industry.’

As published in the recent Travel Bulletin the Island maintained an excellent Net Promoter Score of 71 in Q3 and Q4 of 2025, a reflection of the quality experience already being delivered by the tourism sector.

If you would like to sign up, please contact Cara-Leah stating your preference for online or in-person training,
