Welcome to the Islands of Guernsey

Nestled in the Bay of St Malo, the Islands of Guernsey are home to five individual Islands: Guernsey, Alderney, Sark, Herm and Lihou. Each Island brings its own unique history and charm, with easy travel between each by boat or plane. From wellness escapes and solo trips to family holidays and adventure breaks, a trip to our Islands has it all.

Meet our Islands...

Guernsey

The largest of our Islands, Guernsey, is home to St Peter Port, full of boutique shops and seafront eateries, as well as the 800-year-old Castle Cornet overlooking the harbour, and Hauteville House, home to Victor Hugo. With miles of scenic cliff paths, visitors can swim at hidden bays and beaches, dine at restaurants featured in the Michelin Guide, discover remnants of history scattered along the coastlines and unwind with a west coast sunset.

Alderney

Alderney, the second-largest of our Islands, is home to historical sites, white sandy beaches, and rich wildlife. Featuring 30 miles of winding lanes and trails, explore award-winning museums, visit the Channel Islands’ only railway, and enjoy waterfront adventures. With WWII bunkers, ancient burial grounds, the best preserved small Roman fort in Western Europe and Iron Age pottery, Alderney is a must-see for history lovers.

Sark

Considered the crown jewel of the Channel Islands, Sark is a journey back in time to a land of horse-drawn carriages, unpaved roads and no cars. You can also discover the Island's marine life on a caving or coasteering tour with Adventure Sark, and enjoy snorkelling in the Venus Pool. As the world’s first Dark Sky Island and Europe’s first International Dark Sky Community, Sark is an unbeatable location to take in the natural beauty of the night sky. Guests can even book a slot at the Observatory for a unique stargazing session.

Herm

With its own micro-climate and views of the French coast, Herm is a true summer paradise, just 20 minutes on the boat from St Peter Port. Keep an eye out for dolphins during the crossing! A walk along Herm’s coast takes only 2.5 hours, during which you can spot puffins, kestrels, the burnet rose, and sea holly, as well as visit Tugual’s Chapel, which dates back to the 11th century. Finally, don’t miss Shell Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in the Channel Islands. With clear water, it is a stunning swim spot, complete with a kiosk serving delicious meals. Visitors can hire a kayak or paddleboard and enjoy the Island at their own pace.

Explore the Priory Ruins, built by the Benedictine monks as early as 1114, swim in the tidal Venus Pool and discover the RAMSAR wetlands and marine reserves. With over 150 species to observe, Lihou is a bird-watching paradise and is ideal for rockpooling. Visit on a day trip or book a group overnight stay at Lihou House.
