Ferry service set to boost tourism as inter-island links return

Guernsey’s visitor economy is set for a boost as Island’s Unlimited prepares to restart its ferry service to Jersey on Friday 20 March, making it easier for visitors to explore both islands in one trip, as well as encouraging more overnight stays and day visits.

The passenger ferry will operate up to two round trips per day, five days a week, with capacity for around 300 passengers, providing a regular connection for visitors and islanders travelling between the two islands.

After carrying around 27,000 passengers last summer, Island’s Unlimited is aiming to significantly increase passenger numbers in 2026 as demand for inter-island travel continues to grow.

Zoe Gosling, Lead Marketing officer at Visit Guernsey said:

“Improving connectivity between the islands is an important part of strengthening Guernsey’s visitor economy. Services like this make it easier for visitors to extend their stay and experience more of what the Channel Islands have to offer.”

The service is expected to play an important role in supporting Guernsey’s visitor economy, making it easier for visitors already travelling to the Channel Islands to experience both destinations, while also encouraging more frequent short stays.

The company is strengthening its links with the UK market through its partnership with Brittany Ferries, helping to open up the Channel Islands to visitors wishing to explore both Guernsey and Jersey.

Paul Acheson, Sales and Marketing Director at Brittany Ferries Guernsey, said:

“Our partnership with Island’s Unlimited strengthens connectivity across the Channel Islands and makes it easier for visitors travelling on our services from the UK and France to explore both Guernsey and Jersey in one trip.”

Island’s Unlimited continues to work closely with event organisers and sports teams to ensure sufficient capacity for key fixtures and major events, while also supporting tourism-related travel throughout the season.

Chad Murray, CEO of Island’s Unlimited, said:

“We’re very pleased to be launching the new season and building on what was a strong first year for the service. There’s a real opportunity to support tourism across the islands by making it easier for visitors to experience both Guernsey and Jersey, and we’re looking forward to playing a key role in that this year.”
