Brittany Ferries is adding an inter-island sailing next February to keep a much-anticipated local motorsport event on track, making it easier for competitors and supporters from both Islands to take part.
The additional Sunday departure, which follows the Guernsey Rally, will allow Jersey-based attendees to return home and reflects the company’s commitment to shaping its timetable around Island life. Brittany Ferries operates a weekly scheduled passenger service between Guernsey and Jersey, so it can respond when a major event calls for extra capacity.
Paul Acheson, Sales and Marketing Director of Brittany Ferries, said:
“Island life doesn’t stand still and our timetable shouldn’t either. When an event brings Guernsey and Jersey together, we want to make sure it can go ahead and that everyone who wants to take part can get there and home again with ease.“
A new sailing from Guernsey to Jersey on Sunday 14 February will give Jersey competitors, officials and spectators a convenient journey home once the weekend’s action is over, helping to ensure the Rally can take place with the full field of crews, volunteers and supporters from both Islands. It complements the existing Jersey to Guernsey sailing on Wednesday 10 February, so teams can plan their travel in both directions with confidence.
The 8th Guernsey Rally will see 28 stages contested over two days, Friday 12 and Saturday 13 February, covering approximately 50 stage miles.
Karl Marshall and Caren Vidamour, Chairman and Director respectively of the Guernsey Rally, said:
“We are very fortunate to have Brittany Ferries as our inter-island ferry service provider and, once again, they’ve gone above and beyond to support our great Guernsey Rally.
“With two convenient sailings now confirmed, our Jersey and UK competitor teams, together with volunteers and supporters, will be able to arrange their travel to and from Guernsey with ease. Thank you, Brittany Ferries.”
Mr Acheson added:
“Having attended the Guernsey Rally last year, I saw at first-hand the importance of inter-island sailings in supporting it and thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere. With more time to plan, we’ll be working to raise the profile of such key events and encourage more visitors to Guernsey, helping deliver wider benefits for the local tourism sector.”
Sailings are available to book online, through travel agents or by calling 0345 609 1024.
